Taylor is PEOPLE Recruiter of the Month for March
ORANGEBURG — Rockland Psychiatric Center Local 1st Vice President Herbert
Taylor Jr. is
the PEOPLE
Recruiter of
the Month
for March. He recruited 17
new PEOPLE members.
Taylor attributes his success to introducing new CSEA members to PEOPLE as soon as they come on the job. He explains
the benefits of PEOPLE at the facility’s monthly new member orientations and invites new members to sign up.
“I explain why it is important to be part of PEOPLE and how each of us contributing a few dollars
per paycheck makes a big overall impact,” said Taylor.
Taylor noted that our union’s lobbying efforts in Albany make
a difference for CSEA members and said contributing to PEOPLE broadens our impact on a national level.
With union organizing taking off in corporations such as Amazon and Starbucks, contributing to PEOPLE can help pave the way
for worker-friendly legislation that will help workers organize without incessant union busting.
“The Amazon organizing victory on Staten Island shows
that workers are seeing the benefits of unions,” said Taylor. “Doing our part as union members to push for better worker
protections will help other workers continue to build power and form unions in their workplaces.”
