Area unions jointly announce support for Molinaro in Dutchess exec race

BEACON – Representatives from several area labor unions gathered Thursday, May 23, to jointly announce their organizations’ endorsements of Marcus Molinaro in the race for Dutchess County Executive.

The announcement brought together leaders from CSEA (the Civil Service Employees Association), Road Sprinklers Fitters Local Union 669, Laborers Local 235, Iron Workers Local 417, Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 1, Local 91 Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, New England Regional Council of Carpenters Local 279, and UA Local Union 21 – Plumbers, Steamfittersand HVACR Service Technicians.Those present for the announcement, held at the CSEA Southern Region Office, said a third term in office would allow Molinaro to build upon the progress he’s made in Dutchess County since taking the helm in 2012.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said, “I’m tremendously grateful for the partnerships we’ve developed, the work the unions do, and their support of my candidacy. Unions have helped to build our communities and have helped preserve the middle class by keeping good paying jobs in Dutchess County.”

CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo said, “Marc Molinaro has successfully worked during his two terms in office to rebuild morale in the county workforce. He has walked the walk when it comes to understanding the work our members do, spending time in different county departments to experience firsthand what challenges our members face on the job. We believe he is the right person to lead Dutchess County over the next four years.”

CSEA Dutchess County Local 814 President Liz Piraino said, “When Marc Molinaro became Dutchess County Executive, he promised he would have an open door, a commitment he has honored. His open door policy has allowed us to build a strong labor-management relationship, and he’s shown a genuine respect for our members and the work they do. We are pleased to support Marc in his re-election efforts.”

Road Sprinklers Fitters Local Union 669 Business Agent Kenneth W. Lilley Jr. said, “Local Union 669 Sprinkler Fitters will once again put our support behind Marc Molinaro for Dutchess County Executive. Marc’s continuous support to our local union and the building trades has helped secure many job opportunities for our members throughout Dutchess County.”

Iron Workers Local 417 President Matthew Stoddard said, “Working with Marcus Molinaro over the last few years, he has promised local labor a seat at the table and has gotten us there. He has implemented a Project Labor Agreement for the Dutchess County Jail and has implemented apprentice language in his projects throughout the county. He has supported local labor, so local labor supports him.”

Laborers Local 235 Assistant Business Manager/President R.J. Merritt said, “Laborers Local 235 has endorsed Marcus Molinaro for another term as Dutchess County Executive. Marc has supported key issues that have helped our members secure work now and in the future.”

UA Local Union 21 – Plumbers, Steamfittersand HVACR Service Technicians Business Manager Frank Palen said, “it is with great enthusiasm and distinct pleasure that UA Local Union 21 of the Plumbers and Steamfitters and Service Technicians union publicly and officially endorses Marcus Molinaro in his quest for Dutchess County Executive. This endorsement acknowledges his longstanding commitment on the issues affecting workersand addressing the needs of all hardworking men and women in Dutchess County.”

Local 91 Heat and Frost insulators and Allied Workers Local Organizer Craig Guilfoyle said, “We’re proud to endorse Marc Molinaro for another term as Dutchess County Executive. He has demonstrated strong support for our members and for keeping union jobs in Dutchess County.”

Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 1 Field Representative David Williams said, “We’re happy to support Marc. He has always been a proud supporter of the Bricklayers and a strong supporter of building trades unions.”
