Local 999 awards scholarships
Capital District Retirees Local 999 held its annual picnic recently in Colonie. Led by Local 999 President Jack Rohl and the Local Scholarship
Committee, the local also awarded its Tony Muscatiello Scholarship to two grandchildren of Local 999 members.
This year’s recipients are:
• Sarah Brady, whose grandparent is Local 999
member Theresa Brady.
• Lesha Tenney, whose grandparent is Local 999
member Olga Tenney.
Congratulations to the scholarship recipients! Attendees also heard updates on important union
issues, including how the federal budget bill could have a devastating effect on retirees and working people. In addition to Local 999 President Jack Rohl and local officer, addressing members were CSEA Capital Region President Shana Davis, Assistant NYS Comptroller/Director of Labor Affairs Adam Acquario and Capital District Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Steve Madarasz.
CSEA Political Action Coordinator Bryan Gorman, Labor Relations Specialist Eric Muldoon and Retiree Program Specialist Heather McGee also updated members on important issues, and members also had the chance to visit with union endorsed vendors and enjoy a picnic lunch.
