Erie County Unit members ratify new contract
BUFFALO — After three days of voting, Erie County Unit members overwhelmingly ratified a five-year contract. The agreement covers
a good portion of Erie County municipal employees.
CSEA Erie County Unit President Bill Wilkinson and County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz recently released a joint statement to the public announcing the tentative agreement, which was voted on in mid-June.
“CSEA feels that we reached
a mutually beneficial agreement
that provides its members with
an improved work environment,” said Wilkinson. “We are confident that the terms of the agreement
will give members a greater work- life balance along with additional wages and benefits that will promote recruitment and retention efforts in such a highly competitive market.”

Dutchess County transit workers join CSEA
ALBANY — CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan recently received the Capital District Area Labor Federation’s President’s Award for her union leadership and dedication to the labor movement.
Sullivan and several other labor and community leaders were recognized at the federation’s recent 15th Annual Appreciation Gala in Albany. Presenting the award to Sullivan was CSEA Executive Assistant to the President and longtime labor activist Sharon Lovelady-Hall.
“It was a great honor to receive the President’s Award from my union brothers and sisters in the Capital District Area Labor Federation,” Sullivan said. “It is a privilege and a pleasure to serve CSEA on behalf of so many amazing members who work so hard to keep our communities safe and running every day.”
POUGHKEEPSIE — CSEA recently welcomed nearly 100 new members to the Dutchess County Unit after county officials brought county busing in-house following years
of it being operated by a private contractor.
Union leaders and staff recently welcomed the new members to our union, providing them lunch and hosting an information day outside the Dutchess County Public Transit headquarters in Poughkeepsie.
Workers had the chance to learn about the many benefits CSEA offers on top of the union contract and also got to familiarize themselves with the benefits of entering the New York State Retirement System.
