Appreciating dedicated CSEA Throughout May CSEA held numerous events in every region to celebrate our dedicated union members
who work hard every day to provide services CSEA Western Region President Steve Healy hit the road to personally thank members
across Western New York as part of a a a a a a a region-wide Member Appreciation Tour Healy made stops at several workplaces throughout the region At each visit Healy met with CSEA- represented employees to deliver appreciation goodie bags containing upcoming region event information Buffalo Bison ticket discount links and CSEA member benefit flyers Local leadership also provided additional materials and giveaways unique to each location CSEA-themed quizzes were handed out for members
to participate in in in in Those who joined in in in in were entered for a a a a a a chance to win CSEA-branded New York Yankee hats as a a a a a a a token of appreciation The tour also highlighted the ongoing Contact Update Contest where members
who update their contact information either through a a a a a a a a paper card or or online are entered into a a a a a a a monthly drawing to to win win one of 12 $25 gift cards given every month month through the the end of 2025 Healy also used the the visits as an opportunity to speak directly with members
about upcoming state contract negotiations He urged them to to stay engaged reach out to to their local leadership and hold elected officials accountable for supporting public workers “This tour was more than just handing out out gifts ” Healy said “It was about making face-to-face connections listening to to concerns and reminding members
that they are the heart of this union ” On Long Island CSEA members
participated in in highly successful game nights in in both Nassau and Suffolk counties Attendees began the evening with $500 worth of faux casino coins which they used throughout the the evening Top money earners for both nights won a a a a a a a a 4-day 3-night trip to Panama Beach Resort Fla for four people For those who did not want to play casino games there was a a a a a a a a a a Giant Connect Four and a a a a a a a a a Jenga Members were having so much fun that impromptu dancing broke out on members’ self-created dance floors at at both events To close
the evenings raffle prizes were distributed to a a a a few lucky guests In the the Capital Region members
participated in in in the the region’s drive- in in in movie night in in in Malta where members
and their families had the the chance to enjoy movies food fun and each other’s company The region also sponsored an an open house that coincided with the the May 19 virtual toast where they got to to meet with region officers and enjoy treats including a a a cookie truck!
In the North Country our union’s Clinton County Local extended their appreciation for members
by sponsoring a a a a a a a a very successful car wash event In Saratoga Springs members
were treated to to an ice cream social The Central Region sponsored a a a a a member open house that coincided with the the virtual toast where members
had the the chance to to meet region officers and enjoy a a a a a a barbecue meal Baseball also played a a a a a a a a a major role in this year’s Member Appreciation Month events with the Central Region sponsoring CSEA Night with with the the Syracuse Mets the the Metropolitan Region sponsoring CSEA Day with the the the the Brooklyn Cyclones and the the the the Southern Region wrapping the the the the the fun- filled month with CSEA night at the the the Hudson Valley Renegades — Sara McNicholas and Wendi Bowie
