Be the change
yIouseek t’s not complicated to recognize CSEA’s
purpose in 2016.
We came into existence in 1910 to make sure that politicians didn’t play fast and loose with public services and public workers. It was our mission to make sure those services were legitimately delivered on the basis of merit and fitness. It was also our objective to make sure that those who dedicated their careers to the public good would not be treated like second-class citizens.
Generations of CSEA leaders and members have worked hard to live up to that commitment. But, it should be clear today that it’s a mission we must never quit!
There’s ample evidence that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
That means CSEA is as necessary as ever. We cannot accept politics as usual and we cannot accept corporate greed that marginalizes working people and undermines the quality of life in our communities.
But we cannot change these things without you being part of the change.
There is an extraordinary effort underway in CSEA to better connect with all of you and your co-workers. It’s about getting people to talk to each other, to stand together, to amplify our voices and build a stronger union. We’re making progress and we’re focused on moving forward.
CSEA is not some outside organization – it’s you and your co-workers joining together to make something greater than each of us. Building that awareness and that power is the only way we can achieve meaningful change.
