LONG BEACH — Over 150 CSEA City of Long Beach Unit members, CSEA City of Long Beach Lifeguards Unit members and guests marched in the city’s Irish Day Parade, which honored the city’s essential workers.
Outfitted in green t-shirts supplied by the city unit, members proudly marched down the parade path to the sound of applause and shouts of appreciation for CSEA members’ devotion to keeping the city running. A few parade onlookers even reached out to shake members’ hands as they passed by.
CSEA City of Long Beach Unit President John Mooney feels that the parade theme of “Honoring Essential Workers” was important to frontline workers who do so much for the city.
“The parade put a face behind the workers who have endlessly kept the city running and looking beautiful through the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mooney said. “To see the smiles upon our union brothers and sisters’ faces, knowing that the clapping and smiles from Long Beach residents were for them truly warmed my heart.”
