CSEA negotiating team members from the New York State Unified Court System and state officials signed the recently ratified contract. The contract covers more than 5,500 non-judicial employees in the state’s Unified Court System. The three-year agreement, retroactive
to April 1, 2017, includes salary increases in every year of the agreement, improved downstate
and Mid-Hudson Valley location pay, improved payments to the Employee Benefit Fund and a new Welfare Fund program and across-the-board cost of living adjustments.
Seated, from left, are Central Region Judiciary Local President Don Lynskey, CSEA Deputy Director of State Operations Kathy Guild, and Unified Court System management representatives Lauren DeSole and Karen Grimaldi. Standing, from left, are Surinda Singh, supervisor of support, CSEA State Operations; Southern Region Judiciary Local President Kevin Mahler; Lisa McNeil CSEA contract administration specialist, Capital Region Judiciary Local President Nicki Cohen; Region 4 Judiciary Local President Scott Gartland; Western Region Judiciary Local activist Bob Pazik; Long Island Judiciary Local President Diane Hansen and New York City State Employees Local President Vinny Martusciello. Learn more about the contract at cseajudiciary.org.
On the cover, Pamela Clark, an office assistant 2 at the State Insurance Fund and a CSEA activist, urges people to vote NO on the constitutional convention as she marches in the New York City Labor Day Parade. “On the constitutional convention, I’m voting NO. I not only want to protect our pensions, but the constitution protects our right to organize and collectively bargain. Other states have lost these rights because their constitutions didn’t protect unions. We have to keep this protection in New York. Vote NO.”
