YORKTOWN — CSEA is mourning the loss of Town of Yorktown Unit member Jake Arcara, 28, who died on the job September 14 after he was struck by a vehicle in a work zone.
CSEA and PESH are investigating. Initial reports from town officials stated that Arcara, a motor equipment operator at the Yorktown Highway Department, was working on a drainage project on a local roadway when he was hit by a vehicle driven by an 88-year-old local resident.
Arcara was taken by ambulance to New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt, where he was pronounced dead.
Arcara was a four-year town employee known for his warm personality and camaraderie with his co-workers. He came from a tight- knit family and was engaged to be married in 2023.
He is survived by his parents, Kelly Arcara and Jack Arcara; sister and brother-in-law Amanda and George Marfeo; niece and

Visitation was held September 19 in Yorktown Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial took place on September 20 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak.

 State Executive Branch members to get retroactive pay in October
 The State Comptroller has advised CSEA that the 4% retroactive pay increases negotiated in the new State Executive Branch contract will be paid on October 6
to those on the Institutional payroll, and October 12 to those on the Administrative payroll. You should see it in your check on the pay date that applies to you.

CSEA’s 112th Annual Delegates Meeting
October 24 – October 28, 2022
 This year, we will meet in-person in New York City for an exciting week of training and conducting the business of our Union. The first half of the week will feature workshops themed around ‘The Leader In You’ and designed to assist new and seasoned members with developing knowledge and skills
as leaders. The second half of the week will be filled with conducting the business of CSEA, including some exciting speakers and presentations, as well as awards.
