Governor signs CSEA priority bills

Gov. Kathy Hochul recently signed into law several of CSEA’s priority bills. Several of the new laws will help continue our union’s efforts to increase employee recruitment and retention. The bills that were signed will:

There are three ways to vote in the General Election:
 Early Voting
Absentee Ballot
Request an absentee ballot by mail by October 26 and in person at your county Board of Elections no later than November 4. Completed and signed ballots must be postmarked by November 5.
 New York state early voting will take place from October 26 – November 3. Times and locations vary by county. Visit cseany.org/vote for county links.
Election Day
On November 5, polls are open from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. for in-person voting at your normal polling location.

  ATTENTION: PUBLIC & PRIVATE SECTOR LOCAL AND UNIT PRESIDENTS
Important Election Information:
The term of office for current Public & Private Sector Local and Unit officers will expire on June 30, 2025. Elections for office must be conducted and completed before the new term begins on July 1, 2025. (Note: Retiree officers and CSEA/VOICE officers can disregard — the Statewide Election Committee will run your elections.)
The Statewide Election Committee (SEC) is mailing information on September 9 to each Public & Private Sector Local and Unit President requesting each Executive Board to select prior to October 15, 2024: (1) an Election Chairperson/Committee or (2) an Election Meeting Chair (available
to Locals and Units with fewer
than 150 members). Each Local
and Unit President was provided with and asked to return the completed Election Committee and Election Meeting Chairperson Data Form including Executive Board meeting minutes reflecting the appointments.
If this has not been completed, please do so immediately. Please refer to the SEC’s September letter for procedural requirements.
