ALBANY — CSEA’s statewide Board of Directors met on July 26, 2018. In official business, the board:
• Confirmed the appointment of
Thomas Hingher to serve as the Universities Central Region 5 representative on the State Executive Committee.
• Confirmed the appointment of Angela Ostrander to serve as the Cortland County representative on the Local Government Committee.
• Confirmed the appointment of Adele Herzenberg to serve as the Westchester County representative on the Local Government Committee.
• Approved the placement of
a memorial plaque in honor of Flo Tripi, for installment in CSEA’s Headquarters, waiving the six-month interval period.
• Approved a one-year contract extension to CSEA’s Field Staff Association from Oct. 9, 2019 to Sept. 30, 2020.
• Amended language of CSEA Financial Standards Code, Section 11, regarding credit cards.
• Approved the issuance of a temporary charter to CSEA Local 792, Delhi Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Central Region 5.
• Approved the issuance of a temporary charter to CSEA Local 791, Whitsons Food Service Corporation, Port Chester School District, Southern Region 3.
• Approved transfer of four CSEA members from Syracuse State Employees Local 013 to state Department of Agriculture and Markets (Albany) Local 650.
• Amended the language in Article IV, Sections 1 & 4 of the Private Sector Constitution regarding the addition of a special “Local President only” structure for Private Sector locals of a particularly small size.
• Amended the language in Article IV, Section 2(b) of the Private Sector Constitution regarding the splitting of Secretary/Treasurer into Secretary and Treasurer for independent child care locals.
• Amended the language in Region Constitution, Article VIII, to include a new section, regarding the creation of Private Sector advisory committees for each region.
• Amended the language in Retiree Constitution to clean up references to the Retiree Local Election Committee.
• Approved the Special Judicial Board report of July 26, 2018.
• Approved the Standing Legal Committee report of July 26, 2018.
• Approved the Standing Legislative & Political Action report of July 26, 2018.
• Approved the appointments of Dan Vadala from Onondaga County Local 834 (Central Region 5), and Michael Irving from Monroe County Local 828 (Western Region 6), to the Political Action Committee by Tim Finnigan; seconded by Colleen Wheaton.

 KNOW RIGHTS
 If you are injured at work or you have a work-related medical condition (such as a repetitive stress injury like carpal tunnel syndrome) or an occupational disease, notify your employer and see a physician who accepts Workers’ Compensation.
If your physician says you have medical conditions that prevent you from working for at least a year, if you are under retirement age, or even if you are collecting a pension or ready to retire, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability Benefits (SSDB).
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
If you have been injured in an auto accident outside of work, or from a dog bite, from a non work-related slip and fall or due to a malfunctioning product, you may have a personal injury claim.
VETERANS DISABILITY CLAIM
If you are a veteran and have been denied a service-related medical disability for medical issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, effects from Agent Orange or other chemicals, you may have a veterans disability claim.

    The CSEA Legal Department oversees the Legal Services Program and CSEA has endorsed the statewide law firm of Fine, Olin & Anderman, LLP, to represent members for injury-related matters. Call CSEA at 1-800- 342-4146, and follow the prompts for “Legal Services, Injury-Related Matters” and/or “Non-Injury Related Matters.” You will be connected to Fine, Olin & Anderman, LLP, or the Legal Services Program administrator.
