Labor Relations Specialist

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest unions, is seeking résumés for a Labor Relations Specialist to serve the Erie and Chautauqua County areas of New York State.

Responsibilities include working with union activists to engage members at their worksites and in their communities and negotiating /administering collective bargaining agreements. Operate independently & schedule workload.

Salary $60,565 with excellent benefits.

Driver’s license/car for business use. High School/Equivalency & 3 years full time related experience or BA in related field or acceptable combination of work experience and education.

Computer Programmer / Analyst
CSEA is seeking a Computer Programmer / Analyst to work in our Albany, NY headquarters location. Starting salary is $68,564 with excellent benefits. Under the general direction of the Manager of Systems Programming and Support, the Computer Programmer / Analyst may be assigned to work with a more senior person within the System, Programming and Support Unit of the Information Technology Department. The incumbent codes, modifies, maintains, tests, debugs and documents computer programs and provides support along with some limited system design responsibilities. Interaction on project teams and with user department personnel is expected.

Minimum qualifications:
Associates degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Computer Science or related field
AND
three (3) years of progressive, satisfactory experience in computer programming in a business environment using languages such as PHP, HTML, AJAX, Javascript, an Object Oriented Programming Language or Object Based Programming Language, with at least 6 months exposure to system analysis work. Knowledge of database concepts is preferred.

OR

Five (5) yeas of progressive, satisfactory experience in computer programming in a business environment using languages such as PHP, HTML, AJAX, Javascript, an Object Oriented Programming Language or Object Based Programming Language, with at least 6 months exposure to system analysis work. Knowledge of database concepts is preferred.

OR

Satisfactory combination of the foregoing education and experience.

Statewide Organizer

CSEA is seeking resumes for a Statewide Organizer. Starting salary is $59,377 ($69,671 for candidates with two years professional union organizing experience). The Statewide Organizer’s assignments are across New York State and requires a travel and flexible work schedule. Responsibilities include all aspects of organizing campaigns and building the union including:

Performs all phases of organizing activities such as targeting, research, developing leads, progress assessment, recruitment, issue development, strategizing, escalating tactics, voter assessment, GOTV strategies ‐ with the objective of increasing CSEA’s membership.
Develops and applies a thorough working knowledge of labor and employment laws in the campaign setting, especially as pertains to exerting pressure on the employer.
Acts as lead organizer in campaigns including recruiting and educating volunteers, making assignments and ensuring accountability.
Gathers, analyzes, manages and uses data and information essential to organizing.
Builds internal and external (i.e. community) relationships and supports campaigns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s Degree in labor relations or a related field OR three (3) years of responsible work experience in union organizing, union building, political or community organizing that demonstrates a planned approach to campaign development. OR A satisfactory combination of education, training and experience.
