This Labor Day, join us in showing that we are stronger than ever by participating in a Labor Day event near you! Here are events, by region:

Long Island, Metropolitan and Southern Regions:
Manhattan: Sept. 7: New York City Labor Day Parade. Meet by 11:30 a.m. at West 48th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. March time is 1:15 p.m. T-shirts, bottled water, and light snacks will be available. For more information, contact your region office.

 

Capital Region:
Colonie: Sept. 2: Albany Labor Day Solidarity Picnic, noon – 4:30 p.m., Cook Park, Colonie. Please bring a dish to share (entrée, salad or dessert). Hamburgers, hot dogs (and vegetarian options) and soft drinks will be provided. Please bring reusable plates, cups and utensils to make event zero-waste. The event will also include awards, entertainment and a silent auction. Sponsored by the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District.

Albany: Sept. 6: Michael L. Burns Labor Day Parade. Arrive at 5 p.m. Park at the Corning Preserve and beneath Route 787. CDTA buses will shuttle marchers to Academy Park, across from NYS Capitol, where parade will start. Lineup at 5:15-5:30 near NYS Education Building; parade begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by food, music, games and fireworks. Event is free and open to all members and their families.

 

Central Region:
Syracuse: Sept. 2: Labor Day Parade, New York State Fair. Sponsored by the Greater Syracuse Labor Council. Line up at 10 a.m. by Gate 4 near the Iroquois Village (look for the CSEA banner). Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. with a rally to immediately follow. A limited supply of free CSEA T-shirts will be available. For more information, call the Central Region Office at 315-433-0050.

Ithaca: Sept. 2: 36th Annual Labor-Community Picnic, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Stewart Park, Main Pavilion. All are welcome at this free event, sponsored by the Tompkins County Workers’ Center and the Tompkins/Cortland Labor Committee.  Please bring a dish to share – burgers (meat and veggie), hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Attendees are also encouraged to bring reusable plates, bowls, cups and utensils. Contact the Tompkins County Workers’ Center at 607-269-0409 or visit tcworkerscenter.org.
 
Massena: Sept. 2: Solidarity Day Parade and Picnic. Join the Jefferson, Lewis & St. Lawrence Counties Central Trades and Labor Council for the annual parade. Line up at 10 a.m. Willow Street in Massena, by Coach’s Corner Restaurant at 10 a.m. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and will end at Springs Park with a free picnic lunch to follow. Free CSEA T-shirts will be given out while supplies last. All CSEA members and their family members are invited to march. For more information, contact Amy Simmons at (315) 783-7555.

 

Western Region:
Buffalo: Sept. 2, Buffalo Labor Day Parade. Line up at 11 a.m. at the corner of Abbott and Stevenson, Buffalo. The parade starts at noon, followed by picnic at Cazenovia Park.

Rochester: Sept. 2: Rochester Labor Day Parade. Press Conference, 10 a.m. NYSUT Building, 30 North Union Street. Parade begins 11 a.m. (Parade lineup instructions will be given at press conference.) RSVP to Communications Specialist Ove Overmyer at (585) 354-1613.
