SYRACUSE — CSEA members at SUNY Upstate Medical University were recently recognized by the United Way of Central New York with the 2022 Caring Achievement Award for Organized Labor.

CSEA members, along with UUP and PEF members who work at the hospital, were recognized with the award for their outstanding service and contributions to their workplace and community.

“We have an organizational foundation that shows that we not only support union members, but we try to give back to the community because we live here,” said SUNY Upstate Medical University Local President Ali Cottrell in the United Way video. “I would like to thank the local members. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. I would also like to thank United Way for recognizing labor.”

“Congratulations to all of our hardworking members at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. It is wonderful they have been recognized publicly for what they do every day, and they couldn’t be more deserving of this award,” said CSEA Central Region President Kenny Greenleaf.
