MINEOLA — CSEA Long Island Region President Jarvis Brown was awarded with the Barbara Jones Leadership Award at the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists [CBTU] Long Island Chapter’s Annual Fall Scholarship Awards Dinner.

The honor is bestowed on individuals who have displayed outstanding service and leadership in the community.

During his acceptance speech, Brown thanked CBTU for the honor and stressed the importance of having a strong team. He went on to thank his family, the many CSEA officers that he has worked with over the years as well as CSEA Long Island Region staff for their dedication.

“I would not be successful without the support of my family and a strong team of activists,” said Brown.

Brown was also recently honored by CBTU’s New York City Chapter with its James Webb Award. Webb served as the New York City CBTU chapter president during the 80s and 90s.

Congratulations to Long Island Region President Brown and all of this year’s CBTU award recipients.
