KINGS PARK — CSEA Department of Transportation (DOT) Region 10 (Babylon) Local 508 recently participated in the state Department of Transportation’s annual Spring Safety Meeting.

State DOT officials hold the two-day event annually to educate workers on various topics that will improve safety conditions at their respective work sites.

This is the first year that CSEA has had a table at the event.

Local 508 officers felt it was important for CSEA to have our own table so members could learn more about several issues that are challenging our union, such as right-to-work, the constitutional convention and contract updates.

The meeting also served as a chance to bring together members who normally work at numerous DOT work sites throughout the area.

“Right now, we have access to all of our members to give them up-to-date information,” said DOT Local 508 President Bill Stodolski. “When you have access to 100 percent of your membership; how do you beat that?”
