BUFFALO — CSEA Western Region members honored veterans through its 16th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony held at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park.

At the event, sponsored by the region’s Veterans Committee, more than 100 CSEA families and many guests paid tribute to the many men and women who have selflessly served our country. Many CSEA active and retiree members are U.S. military veterans who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces, including as reservists.

The program included a 21-gun salute from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1419 based in Hamburg, speeches from Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and others, laying of the wreath, folding of the flag ceremony and a carnation dedication in memory of veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Western Region President Flo Tripi gave a special thanks to outgoing Veterans Committee Chair Bob Pyjas, who has chaired the committee and this event since its inception and was given special thanks for his service. Also playing active roles in this year’s event were new Western Region Veteran Committee Chair and Erie County Local activist Amy Owczarczak and Western Region 2nd Vice President Tim Finnigan, who served as master of ceremonies.
