THIELLS – The 11th annual Southern Region Golf Classic has been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at the Philip J. Rotella Golf Course.

The golfing event is our major fundraiser for both our Southern Region scholarships and our Emergency/Disaster Relief Fund. This year, we were able to award four $1,000 college scholarships to graduating seniors whose parents or guardians are members of our union.

“Being able to provide these scholarships is another way we show our members how our union positively impacts our lives,” said Southern Region President Anthony Adamo. “That money really makes a difference for families working so hard to make college happen for their children. When it comes to college costs, every dollar makes a difference. It’s also so important to continue to allocate money for our Emergency/Disaster Relief Fund. We’ve been able to use that money to provide assistance to our members experiencing some heartbreaking circumstances.”

The Golf Classic begins at 12 p.m. on Sept. 13 with registration and a light lunch. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Dinner, along with awards and raffles, will take place at the conclusion of golfing. The cost is $130 per individual golfer or $520 for a foursome. The cost for anyone looking to attends the dinner only is $50.

Event organizers are offering sponsorship opportunities, with the cost to sponsor a hole (complete with signage) set at $50. Donations of raffle prizes are encouraged and will be gratefully accepted. Anyone needing more information should contact Kathy Rodriguez at (845) 649-4831 or Guy Bilyou at (845) 489-4494.

A mailing has been sent to local and unit leaders with registration materials for the golfing fundraiser, but registration forms may also be downloaded by visiting the Southern Region website here. Please mail registration and sponsorships, with checks made payable to CSEA Region 3, to our office at 568 State Route 52, Beacon, NY 12508 no later than Aug. 30, 2019.

Hotel information, for those traveling from out of town, is also available on the Southern Region website. The Philip J. Rotella Golf Course is located at 100 Thiells Mt. Ivy Road in Thiells.
