Park renamed for Warlik
ROTTERDAM — Whenever her community needed her help,
former Schenectady
Area Retirees Local 924 President Roslyn Warlik was there.
to others.
Born and raised in Schenectady,
Roslyn worked for the state Department of Transportation. She later worked for Schenectady County’s Senior and Long Term Care Services Department.
Roslyn served as 1st Vice President of Schenectady Area Retirees Local 924 from 2017 to 2019 and became President of Local 924 in 2019 until her passing in October 2024.
In addition to her CSEA office, Roslyn served as president of the High Bridge Civic Association and edited the association’s newsletter. She was also active in the town’s Democratic Party.
One of her wishes was for the town to install a new swing set in the park that is now named in her memory.
Town officials fulfilled Roslyn’s wish for the new swings; town Parks workers recently installed the park’s new sign, memorial plaque and swings, which were also unveiled at the ceremony. Two of Roslyn’s grandchildren were the first people to use the new swings.
Roslyn is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. Outside of her union and community work, Roslyn was very dedicated to her family.
She was especially
dedicated to improving
the town’s parks as a
22-year member of the
town’s Parks Committee.
As a committee member, Roslyn was tasked with overseeing the town’s Boxwood Park, located in the Highbridge neighborhood near Roslyn’s home.
That park was recently renamed Roslyn Warlik Town Park in her memory.
The Town of Rotterdam held a dedication ceremony on Saturday, August 23. Attendees included Local 924 President Mary Sieder, Local 924 Vice President Kimberly Garrett and Local 924 member Marcia Walker, Roslyn’s family, loved
ones, Rotterdam town officials and state Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, who successfully sponsored an Assembly resolution honoring Warlik’s life.
Ceremony attendees paid tribute to Roslyn’s devotion to her community, noting her energy, endless hard work and kindness
