LIBRARY PACT — CSEA City of Rochester Library Workers Unit have overwhelmingly ratified a four-year contract that includes wage increases, additional paid leave, improved dental, vision and life insurance benefits, a parking subsidy for Central Library workers and wage incentives for long-term employees. “This agreement is a victory for decent wages and improved working conditions. I am especially thankful for a great working relationship with library management, Mayor Tom Richards, our city officials as well as CSEA staff,” said Unit President Ove Overmyer. “This is a fair deal that helps workers improve their lives so we can continue to deliver the high quality of library services our community has come to know, love and respect.” The unit consists of 133 part-time employees of the city’s Central Library and 10 branch libraries … STRIDES KICKOFF — Long Island Region Women’s Committee members represented CSEA at the recent kickoff breakfast for the American Cancer Society’s annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk. The walk will be held Oct. 20 on the boardwalk at Jones Beach. Committee members have participated in the walk for many years, raising a significant amount of money toward fighting breast cancer. CSEA members across the state have participated in Making Strides Walks in their own areas for years …GOLF CLASSIC HELPS MEMBERS — The Southern Region Emergency/Disaster Relief Committee recently sponsored its most successful fundraising golf classic. The fourth annual event, held at the Wallkill Golf Club, raised just over $7,000 for local CSEA members in need ... ROSCOE SCHOOL PACT — Members of the Roscoe School District Unit in Sullivan County have unanimously ratified a five-year collective bargaining agreement. The agreement includes a salary increase each year, increased longevity, a new optional health insurance plan, sick leave for parttime employees, and a sick leave incentive ... FIGHTING FOR FAIR DEAL — CSEA members recently demonstrated outside Olean City Hall to bring attention to Mayor Linda Witte’s refusal to treat all city workers equally. The union members, who are working without a contract, are seeking a fair deal. The city declared impasse in its negotiations with CSEA in April 2012, a move that surprised unit leaders, who note that they have always been willing to come to the table. “We have 74 dedicated men and women who have been working without a contract for a long time,” said CSEA Olean Unit President Brad Camp. “We are just looking for an agreement that recognizes the importance of the work we do every day for Olean residents.” Celebrate Labor Day with CSEA!
