You can just feel it coming in our communities, in our economy and in our political system. But the outcomes are far from certain. That means that CSEA members have a choice — you can lay back and let things happen, or you can get involved and help influence the situation. My hope is that you will play an active part because it will surely help produce better results. There are no shortages of challenges in front of us — making sure that elected officials make good choices that put people and communities first, having an economy that works for everyone and ensuring social justice and fairness, to name just a few areas. These are challenges that won’t simply resolve themselves without good people standing together for what’s right. None of us should be on the sidelines when there is so much at stake and there are so many different ways that each of us can contribute. Here are some simple suggestions about ways you can change the course of the year ahead and make a difference: 1. Register to vote. If you already are registered, sign up a co-worker, friend or neighbor. 2. Learn about an issue affecting your community and get involved to help resolve it. 3. Do something to make yourself healthier — whether it’s eating better, changing bad habits, exercising, reducing stress, etc. It will help you feel better and be more effective.
