We’re Freezin’ For a Reason: Join the Polar Plunge!
The 2016-17 Polar Plunge season has kicked off, and we are continuing our commitment to supporting the Special Olympics of New York.
CSEA has a long relationship with the Special Olympics, as nearly 20,000 of our members work in the developmental disabilities field. Many of our members are involved with helping Special Olympics athletes train and prepare for participation.
We urge you to join — or form — a CSEA team in your area. Visit polarplungeny.org today to learn more or get started.

On the cover, CSEA Central Region Judiciary Local activists Don Lynskey, left, and Ian Spencer, right, hold up Ian Spencer Jr. as they all take the Polar Plunge into Oneida Lake with the CSEA Region 5 Polar Peeps team. Nearly three dozen CSEA members and their friends got bold in the cold, taking the Polar Plunge into Oneida Lake on a very chilly December day, raising more than $12,000 to support the athletes who participate
in Special Olympics. It was the ninth time CSEA activists have participated in the plunge, which celebrated its 10th anniversary plunge this year.
CSEA Capital Region members had a chilly, fun
time plunging into Lake George for the recent Polar Plunge there. The CSEA Seals helped raise money to help area Special Olympics athletes. Above, from top photo, plungers return to the beach from their dip
in the water: Albany County Local 1st Vice President Jeff Decker, State Executive Local Secretary State Executive Local Vice President Mark Cortes and State Executive Local Secretary Loreen Caldwell.
