“I’m sticking with our union because our union is sticking with me, representing us now and in the future. Our union backing you up is so important, because you get leverage and great benefits. To employees who are thinking of quitting our union, please don’t quit. We can’t afford”to be without our union. We need to stick together.

ALBANY — CSEA recently announced our endorsement of Gov. Andrew Cuomo for re-election.
Our union, along with the New York State AFL-CIO, is supporting the governor for re-election because he has demonstrated that he stands with us as we face new challenges after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with corporate interests and the wealthy in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. The governor is committed to keeping our state and the labor movement strong.
Hours after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down Janus, the governor signed an executive order that protects public employees’ personal information by ensuring that the information is not handed over to unauthorized individuals or organizations, including anti-labor groups that seek to get our members to quit our union.
Earlier this year, Cuomo signed changes to the state’s Taylor Law that will help protect working people in our state after Janus, including language noting that we are no longer required to provide representation on disciplinary and other non- contract issues to those who don’t pay dues.
Last year, the governor also reached an agreement with CSEA that protects and improves pay, health insurance and other benefits for more than 60,000 state Executive Branch employees.
“Greedy corporate interests think
they are going to destroy labor unions by convincing hardworking Americans to quit on getting better wages, health care and benefits, but they are wrong,” CSEA President Danny Donohue said “Here in New York, Governor Cuomo has already taken monumental steps to make sure unions are stronger than ever. Governor Cuomo stands united with us in this fight. He has stood side by side with us to secure legislation that will keep public sector labor unions strong in New York.”
“I proudly endorse Governor Andrew Cuomo for re-election. I have said on many occasions when the governor does right by CSEA, then CSEA will do right by the governor,” Donohue said.
“The members of CSEA are the backbone of critical government operations — these hardworking public servants deserve a right to collectively bargain and organize. New York will never give in to wealthy corporate interests over the rights of our union brother
and sisters. I proudly accept this endorsement and will fight shoulder to shoulder with CSEA to protect their members’ rights and the rights of all of organized labor,” said Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
“CSEA has been around for more than 100 years and we’re here to stay, thanks to our hardworking members, our supporters like Governor Cuomo and many others,” Donohue said. “Stay union. Stay strong!”
