 Brush: Excelsior a ‘tremendous benefit’
“I appreciate that we have this opportunity available for us through our union. It is a tremendous benefit for somebody who would like to advance in their education and career.
My goal is to take the exam for a different position here that requires a degree, the offender rehabilitation coordinator title. I had credits from prior college classes, but the school I had been attending no longer offered the degree I needed. That’s when I looked into Excelsior.
The teachers at Excelsior have been fantastic. The advisor assigned to me reached out to me right away when I started, and we are able to email back and forth.
Because it’s online only, it’s different from the traditional college experience, but I like it. The majority of people in my class are military veterans from as far away as Hawaii, and our work is scheduled so that people from across all time zones can participate. ”
My goal is to finish by next June.

 Taylor makes it a priority
to discuss PEOPLE with our members, including newly-hired workers. Discussing our union’s federal political action gives workers a broader picture of how our union works on their behalf.
“We want to educate our members as soon as they begin working,” said Taylor. “We
