Workers’ Compensation Covers Only About 5 Percent of Disabilities
Workers’ Comp covers job-related injuries, but almost 90 percent of disabilities result from illness, not accidents. An additional 5 percent are injuries that happen off the job, and therefore wouldn’t qualify for either.1
Social Security Disability Benefits can be Difficult to Qualify For
A person can only qualify for SSDI if they can’t work due to a severe medical condition that has lasted, or is expected to last, at least a year or result in death. For those who do not qualify, the average monthly benefit is$1,165,barelyabovethepovertylevel.2
