May 2023
GMreetings, Sisters & Brothers,
Wor k Force all you do!
The
Thank you for
ay is a month of celebration and
spring weather, but it’s also a month of remembrance. On Memorial Day,
let’s all remember those who served in uniform and courageously gave everything for our country.
In May, we also celebrate Labor History Month. Union members have helped shape our country, including many of the advancements of our rights that we have today. It is important for us to know the history of not only CSEA, but that of the labor movement in the U.S. and around the world. When we know our past,
we can better face the challenges of the present and shape our future.
Most importantly, May is the month
we celebrate you, our CSEA brothers and sisters! Union members play an important role in our country’s past, present and future, but let’s not forget that the work you do every day makes a difference.
New Yorkers in every community in our state rely on you daily to provide essential services. Your hard work and dedication shows, and your work truly matters.
With that in mind, THANK YOU for all you do, every day and everywhere
in New York. Many of you may say in response, “I’m just doing my job,” or
something similar, but what you do is important.
When it comes to providing everyday services, CSEA members are there. Especially when our communities need us in an emergency, CSEA members are often the first ones there – for our neighbors and each other.
While our union is holding CSEA Member Appreciation Day on May 19, we will recognize you throughout the month of May.
CSEA regions will distribute lawn signs to publicly thank members for everything they do. Each region will also hold or sponsor events to show our appreciation. To see events planned for your region and other surprises, watch for updates on your region Facebook page or on our union’s website at cseany.org. Remember to share your appreciation for your fellow CSEA members and the services they provide.
Once again, thank you for all you do! In solidarity,
Mary E. Sullivan, President
