From left to right, CSEA Pilgrim Psychiatric Center Local President Arnold “Rashad” Jones and CSEA Pilgrim Psychiatric Center Local Executive Vice President Christina Lebron use features of a new staff decompression room at the center. Jones, Lebron and other CSEA Pilgrim Psychiatric Center Local officers strongly advocated to management to convert an unused patient recreation room into a room for staff to relax on their breaks, an effort that was underway since 2019 but had been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new room is separate from areas where individuals receive mental health services, which allows staff a place to relax and recharge before returning to work. Before the room was converted, many Pilgrim employees were spending a significant amount of time during breaks leaving the campus to get food or eating in their vehicles as Pilgrim does not have an employee cafeteria. The new room includes vending machines, a coffee machine, television and seating.
