CSEA/VOICE Local 100A (child care provider local) members care for children in our communities, including many of our youngest CSEA family members. On the front line, providers see parents sacrifice basic needs and enroll their children in quality child care.
Since 2002, CSEA/VOICE has been advocating for more affordable child care for parents, increasing access to quality care and greater investment in the child care workforce. Despite great success, many parents still need help. CSEA providers report families make do with alternative arrangements like leaving children with a neighbor, elderly family member or friend, which may not fit the family’s needs.
CSEA believes all children should have access to safe, reliable, quality child care. Our union actively advocates for increased child care funding each year. In FY2023, the state responded with record level child care funding, including funding for parents beyond the usual cutoff in income level, which will allow more middle-income families to qualify for child care scholarships.
We urge CSEA members and families to apply now. Visit WDINY.org/childcare to receive an application or complete the prescreen.
“This program gives parents access to quality child care programs across the state. Many CSEA families will qualify to receive $1,000 per month! This is help that we fought for. This program not only helps parents but in turn supports CSEA/VOICE providers who care for many of our youngest CSEA family members! It is truly mutually beneficial.”
— Heidi Brandt, CSEA/VOICE Local 100A President
“This is an important program that every CSEA member in need of child care can benefit from. I am glad to have had the opportunity to work on this with our child care members. It can truly make a difference in CSEA members’ lives.”
— John Brown, CSEA Local Government Schools Committee Chair
