More than 250 members attended the recent 42nd Annual Long Island Region workshop to learn more about union activism and other pertinent information that they can share with their units and locals.

The workshops began with the “Leading the Way” plenary session, which gave members the chance to voice their questions and concerns to CSEA officers and staff.

Members also learned about the importance of building relationships with their fellow members and the pitfalls of
right-to-work at the “Member Engagement: The Task at Hand” and the “Right-To-Work? Privatization? Organize Now!” workshops.

At the “Local & Unit Elections: Dos & Don’ts” session, members were taught the rules and code of conduct when Edit Edit date and timerunning a campaign for CSEA elections.

Health care also took center stage through the“Health Care Update” and “Workers’ Compensation & Social Security Disability Benefits” workshops. At these sessions, members learned about the current state of health care and how to properly file a claim under the Workers’ Compensation Law.

Long Island Region President Nick LaMorte said he thinks the region workshop was better than ever.
“I think this was our best workshop ever because of the new programs we offered,” said LaMorte. “We had excellent speakers. I was very happy with the outcome. Thank you to all who attended.”
