BINGHAMTON — Every year our union’s Central Region holds a Fall Conference, designed to bring activists and leaders together for information/idea sharing, skill-sharpening and educational workshops. We also hold a Region Executive Board Meeting during the weekend, to take care of the regular business of running our union.

Our Fall Workshop for 2017 was recently held at the DoubleTree Hotel and Conference Center in Binghamton, NY, and featured opportunities for information sharing, new officers orientation workshops presented by a variety of presenters, and a one-day concentrated effort where Member Engagement Teams went throughout Broome County to visit members at their homes to open a dialogue about the challenges we all face as union members. Read about our mold-breaking Member Engagement efforts in the CSEA Work Force.

We were extremely proud to have CSEA Treasurer Bill Walsh and AFSCME International Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride join us for the weekend.

About 250 activists from around our Region attended the three-day workshop!

Here is a summary of what took place at the conference:

  • Information Tables – Representatives from many organizations and the union’s professional staff set up tables to distribute information about the many benefits and services they provide to CSEA members throughout our Region

If you have interests in any of these topics or workshops presented, please ask the representatives from your Local or Unit who attended to share with you what they learned, or any materials they may have brought back from the sessions. Information sharing is vital to an informed, involved and active membership!
