This was the first time the committee held the event, which started with breakfast at a local restaurant. Local Women’s Committee members cooked and served the meal.

The Making Strides walk itself was held at Jones Beach. The 75-person team that participated was named the Pink Ribbons.

Committee members provided healthy snacks such as bananas and granola bars for the walkers. They also provided water to ensure the walkers were well hydrated.

Nassau Local Women’s Committee Chair Ana O’Gorman said she is very happy with the results of the committee’s first Making Strides event.

“It was a great event; we’re really happy with the way everything came together,” said O’Gorman. “We’re going to make next year’s event even bigger.”
