NORTH BELLMORE — In our union’s ongoing effort to connect with members, Nassau Educational Employees Local 865 activists and members recently gathered for a meeting to hear our members’ concerns and build a stronger union.

Nancy Voetsch, Jean Ahlert and Monica Berkowitz listen intently to one of the many guest speakers.

Nassau Educational Employees Local President Monica Berkowitz, along with speakers representing various CSEA benefits providers such as Fine, Olin & Anderman, CSEA Employee Benefit Fund and Pearl Insurance, spoke with attendees about the many CSEA member-only benefits.

There was also a discussion about the U.S. Supreme Court Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 case, led by CSEA Director of Member Engagement Adam Acquario.

The Janus case, which is backed by billionaires and corporate interests, jeopardizes our freedom to join together in strong unions and get a fair return on our work.

Eva Washington and Rosena Porter pledge to never quit CSEA.

During the meeting, attendees also signed Never Quit cards to show they are sticking with our union.
No matter how the Supreme Court decides Janus, we will stand together and continue to work for the fair wages, health benefits, working conditions and more that have helped union members form the core of today’s middle class.

However, we need all of you to stay union, stay strong.

CSEA is continuing our member engagement visits to homes and work sites across the state, including Long Island.
