Recent improvements to the AFSCME Free College Benefit have put a college degree even closer within reach for our members, retirees and even family members!
Our international affiliate union, AFSCME, recently expanded the benefit’s “family” definition to include: parents (NEW!), siblings (NEW!), children (or step-children), grandchildren (or step-grandchildren), spouses, domestic partners and financial dependents.
The program has also added several new 2-year online degree programs, to include:
- Business Management Degree
- Optional concentrations:
- Health Care Mangement
- Human Resources
- Marketing
- FInance
- Labor Studies (NEW!)
- Entrepreneurship (NEW!)
- A business management certificate is also available.

- Criminal Justice Degree
- Associate of Arts Degree
- Early Childhood Education Degree
- Accounting Degree
- Paralegal Degree & Certificate
- Individualized Study Degree
- Patient Navigator Certificate
The Free College Benefit is available through AFSCME’s partnership with Eastern Gateway Community College in Ohio, is offered completely online, and provides a two-year Associate’s Degree program, with no out-of-pocket cost to eligible union members or their family members, including covering tuition, fees and e-books.
