COMMACK — At the recent 43rd Annual Long Island Region Workshop, more than 200 CSEA activists got the training our members need to fight for our future.
The workshop kicked off with the “Leading the Way” session, at which members were able to ask union-related questions to CSEA Long Island Region President Nick LaMorte, Statewide Treasurer Bill Walsh, CSEA General Counsel Daren Rylewicz, Director of Member Engagement Adam Acquario and CSEA Long Island Region Director Heidi Horn.
The “Engaging the Next Wave of Activists” session taught members how to reach out to new members and encourage them to become active in union activities.
Also on the roster was the “7 Ways to Get and Keep Members” workshop. In this class, members learned more about what they can do to keep CSEA strong even if the U.S. Supreme Court decides Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 in favor of the plaintiff.
In the “Union Leadership Responsibilities” session, attendees learned how their roles and responsibilities as union activists can make them more effective leaders.
Those are just a few of the classes that made for a very full workshop agenda.
The enthusiastic participation of attendees pushed our union closer to our goal of improved solidarity and more informed activists.
