COMMACK — The Long Island Region PEOPLE Committee held a meet and greet at the region office to allow our members to learn more about the program and how it can help working families.

PEOPLE Public Employees Organized to Promote Legislative Equality) is CSEA’s and AFSCME’s legislative and political action program that protects and improves our jobs, benefits and pensions in Washington, Albany and in your community. Your support and participation in PEOPLE strengthens our clout in the workplace, in the legislature, in your community and in the labor movement.

CSEA Legislative and Political Action Department staff presented details of the program. Also speaking were Long Island Region President Nick LaMorte and Long Island Region PEOPLE Committee Chair Barbara Homburger, who each stressed the importance of the program in keeping our union strong, particularly in the aftermath of the Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 decision.

Homburger also encouraged members to sign up for “This Week in Albany,” a weekly email alert from our union about local, state and federal political issues that concern our members.
