WESTBURY — The Nassau Community College Unit Women’s Committee is continuing its long tradition of pledging their time and effort to support local charitable organizations.

One of their latest events was a breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s, with all proceeds from the event going to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Thirty-five members and guests dined on breakfast food, which was served by unit members.
Thanks to donations and the generosity of attendees, the committee raised more than $900.

Unit members also collect non-perishable food and monetary donation at their annual information day and barbecue to benefit Nassau County College’s food pantry, “The Nest.”

NCC Unit President Ana O’Gorman said she firmly believes that it’s the unit’s duty to help the people of the community where they serve.

“It is our unit’s mission to share our blessings with co-workers and students who are in need of a helping hand,” said O’Gorman. “We want to send a clear message to the entire campus community that CSEA workers are here to help in solidarity and unity.”
