NEW YORK — At CSEA’s 108th Annual Delegates Meeting, Central Region Activist Karen Bright was again recognized for her skills recruiting the largest number of new members to our union’s PEOPLE Program throughout the state, re-gaining her the title of “PEOPLE Recruiter of the Year.”

CSEA Executive Vice President Mary Sullivan presented the highly contested and coveted award to Bright, who last won the award two years ago. This past year she recruited 62 new members to the program.

Bright works as a supervisor in the Madison County Department of Social Services’ Office of Children and Family Services, and also chairs our union’s Central Region PEOPLE Committee. She also serves as CSEA Madison County Unit vice president, Madison County Local 1st vice president, and Statewide Board of Directors representative for Madison County.

The PEOPLE Program is CSEA/AFSCME’s voluntary federal legislative program that members can contribute to which allows our union to have a voice in federal political issues that impact union members locally. CSEA cannot spend dues money on federal political issues or campaigns, so this is the only way our union has a voice on the national level.

Congratulations Karen on your award!
