SYRACUSE — For a few dedicated CSEA activists, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday was not just a day off from work, it was a day of service to their community.
CSEA Central Region President Kenny Greenleaf joined several area activists in helping sort and organize food and clothing donations at the 19th annual MLK Day Food and Clothing Drive organized each year by the Greater Syracuse Labor Council and the United Way.
“Despite a very cold and wintry day, we had a great time and we were proud to join other labor and community members in volunteering our time to help out people in need in the community,” Greenleaf said. “When people need help, you can always count on union folks to lend a hand.”
Also volunteering that day were activists Lori Nilsson, Theresa Young and her husband Yellow, Sally Heater (along with her granddaughter Zaniah), and Mary Donnelly. Thanks to them for coming out and helping!
