E. SYRACUSE — CSEA Central Region President Kenny Greenleaf has announced our next group of Region activists who will participate in CSEA’s next Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) Program.

The LEAD Program is designed to prepare our leaders with the skills needed to build and strengthen the labor movement. Participants will take part in five weekend-long sessions, completing numerous educational, participatory workshops on issues such as team building, labor history, the economy, immigration, diversity, public speaking and strategic planning. The topics will be presented by staff in our union’s Education and Training and several other departments, as well as the Cornell Labor Studies Program, AFSCME and United for a Fair Economy.

In addition to attending the sessions, participants will also be required to complete assignments between sessions and create and implement a project that not only builds the members’ local or unit, but strengthens the labor movement.

Here are the activists who will participate from CSEA’s Central Region:

  • Thomas Fry, Broome DDSO Local 449
  • Kimberly Grover, Broome DDSO Local 449
  • Kelly Otis, Broome DDSO Local 449
  • Brett Furnia, SUNY Canton Local 603
  • Ali Cottrell, SUNY Upstate Medical University Local 615
  • Carrie Reilly, Onondaga County Local 834
  • Crystal Davidson, Otsego County Local 839

This will be our union’s 8th LEAD Program class. We wish them good luck in their experience!
