PORT WASHINGTON — Our Port Washington School District Unit was recently named a community honoree at the annual Pride in Port Washington event demonstrating a strong commitment to their community.
The event is part of a larger, fun-filled day of activities that celebrate the Port Washington community. One of those activities is the Pride in Port Parade, which serves as the kickoff for the events of the day. Unit members march in the parade every year.
Unit members devote countless hours to their community not only in their jobs as school custodial, maintenance
and transportation workers, but they also selflessly volunteer their time to make sure annual Pride In Port events are successful.
For Nassau Educational Employees Local 865 President Monica Berkowitz, the commendation shows that CSEA is part of the fiber of the community.
“As public service workers, we are already integrally involved in our communities. Many of our members are individually involved in community organizations, charities and service groups,” Berkowitz said. “Not only do these things bring us together for the common good and serve as a useful function in our community, but it also puts a better, more human face on CSEA and our members and shows the community that we care.”
