WAMPSVILLE — CSEA Region 5 and the Madison County Highway Department (Local 827) is mourning the loss of Frank Cook, 59.
Frank died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Frank was a life-long resident of Madison County and worked for the highway department for the last 19 years with his brother, Jack, and Madison County Blue Collar Unit President Jeff Colburn.
“Frank Cook was a lifelong friend of mine. And he was a true renaissance man. He was gifted in all things he did. He could drive a truck, snowplow, he was a welder, fabricator, and was very talented in building trades,” Colburn said. “The man could do anything and do it well.”
Colburn described Frank as what a good CSEA member was all about. He always saw the big picture and knew the value of being represented by the union and everything the union could do for workers. Frank also served on the unit budget committee.
“Any time he ever worked on my truck he always did the job to the ‘nth’ degree. It was done to perfection and he took a lot of pride in his job and craft, and that’s how he approached everything he did,” Colburn added.
