New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Administrative Assistant Joanne Speranza shows off two of the baskets that were auctioned off.

CSEA members employed at the New York State Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Hauppauge office went above and beyond during the holiday season by holding a special auction for the State Employee Federated Appeal (SEFA).

SEFA is a statewide initiative of New York state employees in which payroll-deducted contributions from donating workers are made to local charitable organizations.

Thanks to the generosity of auction participants, the DOT SEFA Committee members raised $736 at the auction. Proceeds from the event were split evenly between the Brookville Center for Children’s Services and the Northport Cat Rescue Association.

All over the state, SEFA is providing many types of health and human services as well as the preservation of cultural, historical and environmental resources.
