CLUW honoree Rutha Bush.

The Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW), an AFL-CIO constituency group, recently honored CSEA Suffolk Retirees Local member Rutha Bush for her long history of activism.

The award presentation was held as part of the group’s Black History Month celebration.
Bush was recognized for her work with numerous political action efforts, including our union’s PEOPLE program, our efforts to defeat a constitutional convention and campaigning for CSEA-endorsed U.S. Presidential candidates.

Bush was also the first woman of color to be elected CSEA’s Long Island Developmental Center and Sagamore Local 430 president.

“It was such an honor and a treasure to be recognized,” said Bush.
