CARLE PLACE — CSEA members came out in full force to support their brothers and sisters in unionism at the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) annual Fall Scholarship Awards Dinner.
CBTU is an AFL-CIO constituency group that provides a voice for African American and other workers of color within the framework of a trade union while improving members’ economic development and employment opportunities. CSEA actively participates in CBTU events on Long Island and across the state.
CSEA President Danny Donohue and Long Island Region President Nick LaMorte were among the union leaders and activists who attended the event.
LaMorte makes it his duty to nurture CSEA’s relationships with the broader work force on Long Island.
“It’s important to be present at functions like CBTU’s Scholarship Gala,” LaMorte said. “The labor force needs to be united and one of the ways we do that is by showing up to celebrate each others achievements.”
