FISHKILL — Balmy temperatures meant that CSEA members in the Southern Region weren’t as cold as usual for the Fishkill Polar Plunge. As a result, the team grew in size this year to more than 40 members raising $10,117 and counting to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics New York.
This year’s Southern Region contingent included many new participants, as well as a group
of seasoned Plunge veterans. A special guest, U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-Cold Spring) jumped with the team this year, wearing the trademark navy blue CSEA T-shirt.
CSEA encourages participation and promotes the Polar Plunges, but this is a grassroots voluntary project for individuals and locals.
To encourage involvement, President Danny Donohue established the President’s Polar Cap Award to stimulate a friendly rivalry between CSEA’s regions. The region that raises the most money through
Polar Plunge participation each year is recognized at CSEA’s Annual Meeting.
All money raised by “CSEA” named teams count toward their region’s totals for the President’s Polar Cap Award!
