For more than a year, CSEA members have been saving on utility bills with American Solar Partners, CSEA’s endorsed solar provider.
Depending on your home and energy needs, you can lower your utility costs to about $15
a month — which is what utility companies often charge for having your home physically connected to the grid.
You may find that having solar panels on your home greatly reduces your bill, but that other changes such as switching to LED light bulbs will further cut your costs.
CSEA members can also take advantage
of consumer-oriented incentives, tax breaks and energy grants to help them with the
costs of upgrading their homes to solar-based electricity.
The incentives include a 30 percent tax credit from the federal government, a state tax credit, and a rebate worth on average around $2,500. There is also a low interest state loan in New York state that makes solar affordable, and allows homeowners to purchase a solar power system with no money out of pocket. The incentives and rebates are currently available but they will eventually run out.
For more information about CSEA’s solar program, contact American Solar Partners at 914-699-3366 or sign up for a free solar assessment at americansolarpartners.com/ assessment/.
