CSEA members worked hard on behalf of our union’s endorsed candidates during the recent election season.

Their efforts paid off as a vast majority of our candidates won their elections.

Most notably, Gov. Kathy Hochul defeated U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin to become the first woman to win election to the Governor’s office. CSEA endorsed Hochul and her running mate, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.

Also, CSEA endorsed statewide candidates State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Attorney General Letitia James and U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer were re-elected.

Voters also approved the Environmental Bond Act, which includes critical funding that ensures CSEA members are supported during the transition away from fossil fuels.

CSEA endorsed candidates also did very well in their races for U.S. Congress, State Senate and Assembly. To find out how endorsed candidates fared in your region, go to cseany. org/vote. Democrats will maintain control of the U.S. Senate, with New York’s Senator Schumer remaining Majority Leader. While several House races are too close to call as of this writing, the expectation is Republicans will take control of the U.S. House of Representatives by an extremely slim margin.

“Thank you to every CSEA member who voted, organized, and volunteered in this year’s elections,” said CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan. “Electing the right people is just the first step. Now we must hold these elected officials accountable as we fight for strong labor legislation, fair contracts, and better representation in the workplace. Let’s get to work.”

Above, from left to right, CSEA Capital Region President Ron Briggs, Office of General Service Local President Joe Eissing, Town of Colonie Unit B President Bill Alund, CSEA Labor Education Specialist Rick DeCarlo and Capital Region Secretary and state Political Action Committee Chair Cindy Stiles get out the vote for Gov. Kathy Hochul, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko.
