Depew—On August 2, CSEA Western Region honored local high school and college scholars at the annual Irving Flaumenbaum and Thomas H. McDonough scholarship awards luncheon. The event was held at the Italian Village Restaurant, 6354 Transit Road.

CSEA is proud to deliver cash awards to deserving students who excel in the classroom and in the community. Each year, CSEA presents the $1,000 Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarships to 18 graduating high school seniors who are dependents of CSEA members, as well as the $2,500 Pearl Carroll and MetLife Insurance Company Scholarships that are awarded to one recipient each.  A CSEA statewide committee of members reviews hundreds of applicants. There are three IFMS award recipients from each of the six regions.

At the luncheon, Western Region President Flo Tripi welcomed attendees and gave biographical introductions of all the student scholars. Several CSEA staff members were on hand for the festivities. Unfortunately, three of the scholars were out of town and couldn’t be present at the luncheon.
