CSEA demands release of members detained by ICE

LAKE PLACID — CSEA is demanding justice after another member was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Alejandro Bravo, a CSEA member employed by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), was taken into custody Dec. 8, just hours after his wife, Mina, was released on bail following her own ICE detention in mid-November.

Alejandro and Mina have lived in the United States for six years. Both are asylum seekers, with green cards and working papers, following a legal path to citizenship while contributing to their Lake Placid community.

This is the second recent incident in upstate New York, following the detentions of Alcibiades “Alex” Gonzalez and CSEA member Yannier “Yan” Vazquez, two SUNY Upstate Medical University employees who were detained by ICE on Oct. 29.

CSEA Capital Region President Shana Davis is working with region staff and ORDA local leadership to raise awareness of this injustice in hopes of bringing Alejandro home.

CSEA SUNY Upstate Medical University Local leaders and Central Region officers are also continuing their efforts on behalf of Alex and Yan.
