Courts gathering connects members with our union

Officers from three state judiciary locals recently met with CSEA members from Long Island, New York City and the Hudson Valley, providing lunch and inviting CSEA vendors. WHITE PLAINS — Sometimes you have to meet members where they are.

That was the perspective shared by leaders of the three downstate CSEA judiciary locals when they decided they would try something new.

Knowing that a day of required continuing legal education training at the New York State Judicial Institute would draw CSEA-represented attorneys from Long Island, New York City and the Hudson Valley, the locals teamed up to provide lunch along with visits from CSEA staff and endorsed vendors.

For attorneys in our busy court system, the CSEA-sponsored lunch break was a chance to connect with their local leaders—Kevin Mahler and Jeff Boos from the Southern Region, Lanielle Roach from the Metropolitan Region, and Larry Germano from the Long Island Region—and get better acquainted with the benefits they receive through our union on top of their negotiated contract.

The locals’ outreach may seem like a small gesture, but it’s part of a broader effort they’ve made to ensure members are taking full advantage of the value they get by being union.
